Top is decorated with Iban shaman figure, one a man(the hunter), and the other his wife and a child.In the bygone days, “tuntun†were believed and used in hunting wild pig in the jungle. Such “tuntun†were placed on a pig’s trail and is believed any pig that comes across the “tuntun†will be stunt and unable to move. I estimate this pair to age about 20 years, in perfect condition, superb carving, don't miss them. Borneoartifact item number: WD014 Measurement: (Height: 179 centimeters / 70.5 inches) (Width: 63 centimeters per piece / 24.8 inches) (Thickness: 3.2 centimeters / 1.3 inches) Description: This is a single piece door panel used to belong to an Orang Ulu family, but due to unavoidable demolition for future construction, the need to preserve these 'at the brink of extinction native heritage' has become some of our life work to safeguard these artifacts. What u see here is no tourist item, not any mass production item, there are only few left of such door or window panel in Borneo itself. Carved from a single piece of "tapang" hardwood, this door panel has no woodworm even after more than 40 years old, it is as good as "new". The actual coloration of this door panel is similar to the picture shown in my gallery picture(lighter brown). It has a natural curve making the door not entirely straight, this could be due to traditional making of it with no proper tools to ensure perfect angles and dimentions.
