Description

the-reef Store War of the Worlds (H.G. Wells)Original MARTIANS Realisation(The Martian design is taken from an early French illustrated edition of "The War of the Worlds" and represents how H.G. Wells imagined they would look on Mars). Miniature Model Diorama- in dark metallic bronze Plastic Resin moulding (Model #06 in Collection of 8)- Series 2 of the Royal Museum of Science Collection- also called the BLACK or NIGHT Frontier Collection- from Takara and Kaiyodo of Japan (2003) - Deleted and Very Rare - Easy to Assemble- Clip-Together, Pre-Painted Model Diorama Kit- BOXED in Brand New, Mint Condition, Sealed Blister Packaging   Summary and Details This is a prepainted and very highly detailed model diorama of two MARTIANS in dark-bronze/black plastic-resin, as realised by the artist - thanks to H.G. Wells. This is one model from a Collection of 8 available from Volume 2 of the Night Frontier or Black Collection of The Royal Museum of Science - Startales collection (released in 2003 and deleted soon afterwards). There are 7 regular models plus one secret "rare" model in the collection. There is also a Volume 2 - Day Frontier or White Collection of another 8 different models to collect. These models were a joint project between the model producers KAIYODO (sculpted by Toshio "OTAKING" Okada) and were marketed and sold by TAKARA. Three volumes of ROYAL SCIENCE MUSEUM MODELS were issed during 2003 and 2004. These realistic Space History and Science models have proved extremely popular in their country of origin, Japan.  The model is brand new and individually sealed in it's original plastic packaging. The packaging includes a full colour collectable planetary (MARS) backing card, and various facts and figures in the Japanese language. There is also included a fold-out A4 poster/information sheet with lots of details about the history of "Martians" and possible life on other Planets (in Japanese) including photographs, factual cartoons, and full diagramatic Assembly Instructions for the model. This is a most impressive Space Exploration model with associated collectable ephemera. These models are made from a dense plastic-resin, and are very accurately sculpted and painted with an incredible amount of fine detail. Nothing can compare from "Western" manufacturers. Informative Notes on the Origins of these Collectable Space ModelsThese models are a Japanese phenomenon know as "Shokugan", which translates as "Candy Toy", this is because you are guaranteed to get a packet of bubble-gum (not included in this auction as the Sell by Date has Expired!) inside each box and a random "surprise" model or figure.   BLACK MARTIANS (War of the Worlds)Diorama Model Details The MARTIANS diorama dimensions are approximately as follows: (Millimetres) 60mm high and 32mm high for the Martian figures, and the display stand dimensions are 45mm x 40 mm.(Inches) 2.5" inches high and 1.25" inches high for the Martian figures, and the display stand dimensions are 1.75" inches by 1.5" inches.  The Martian diorama is beautifully pre-painted and requires minimal assembly, there are three pieces to clip-together - no glue is needed. Please see the photo below showing the assembled diorama (with the box in the background). This photo is taken from my own personal model collection, more images are available on request.
