I have recently acquired a large quantity of 19th c French wooden lace bobbins. They were found in a large box marked with the dates 1830 - 1850 bloquets Bayeux and Caen ( French towns in Normandy renowned world wide for their beautiful hand made laces ). This auction is for 12 of these delightful hand turned bobbins. The bobbins are made from a variety of woods with lovely colours and grains , little works of art hand turned / carved to perfection.. Some of the bobbins still have their ecru and black lace threads . I believe that the biggest ones were wound with the thread that was used to outline the motifs for the blonde and chantilly laces but I cann't be sure. They are all in good condition .
