1850 Chateau French Antique Linen Lace Curtains Drapes a.imagelink {color:#333333;} a:hover.imagelink {color:#333333;} a:visited.imagelink {color:#666666;} a.imagelink img.auctionimage { border: 2px solid #333333; } a:visited.imagelink img.auctionimage { border: 2px solid #666666; } Description Extraordinary Curtains Found in French Chateau Taken from a chateau in Provence about 20 years ago - these are one of a kind, and even something resembling these is ultra rare.  These are from the Napoleon III era, made between 1850 -1875.  This is an extraordinary chance to acquire museum quality curtains for your home. They are truly grand - uncommonly long (10.7 feet) and transform the room they occupy into something stately and magnificent.  If you don't happen to own a chateau or high cielings, they can be doubled, or the bottoms tied in a loose knot, or again draped on curtain tie-backs. Hand macrame'd border and all handlaced linen thread.  The color is a medium linen color (best seen in the close-ups). The motifs are very old-world (birds, grapes, flowers, a man in old costume, and more) and skillfully done.  The macramed pom-pom weights are fantastic.  The curtains have a nice heft to them and in no way are fragile or delicate.  They will require no special handling. They are in very good shape.  One panel is almost perfect with practically no holes.  The other does have a few relatively minor holes that can be repaired.  I will include linen thread for the repairs, which can be tea-dyed for the right color match.  If they are loosely gathered, there isn't even an urgent need to repair them - the holes are not noticeable if not hung taught. 4.3' wide10.7' tall It was a challenge to capture their beauty on camera - they are more impressive in person. If you buy these curtains by July 20, you are in luck for the shipping.  I will hand carry them to the U.S. to avoid the costly French shipping charges, and the long wait to receive them.  Instead of paying $65 the shipping if bought this month will be $28.
