Wonderful and Rare, 1853 United States Department of State Signed Document. This great item measures approx. 7 ¾†x 9 ¾†and is in good condition. This particular Document is signed by the Secretary of State William L. Maroy and is authenticating a proclamation signed by Martin Van Buren as President of the United States and John Forsyth as his Secretary of State as being a true copy after due examination of the original document. The item is hand written on U.S. State Department Stationary and is affixed with the State Department’s Seal. It is signed twice by Secretary of State W..L. Maroy and is dated June 22, 1853. The Stationary is folded in half and underneath the State Department’s Seal is a green ribbon which holds it almost like a binding. The document itself is in good condition with its two original horizontal folds. There is some age toning to the paper and some wrinkling to the corners on the open edged side of the sheet. The handwriting and signatures are crisp, clean and bold and all text is very legible. A great, early original State Department signed document and a great addition to any collection!!!
