hdmustangman Store Here is a postcard drawn by the well-known Indiana illustrator Cobb Shinn (1887-1951). The image is racist but not uncommon for the times, and the postcard was postmarked Jan. 28, 1912. The image is of a little girl with a black cat walking in front of her and a watermelon in the backgraound and the caption "I knows Bad Luck is a done comin' my way". The card is signed in real small letters in the image Cobb X Shinn. There is a light pencil-written inscription on the back and also the title "Sepia Tar Babies". The stamp is missing and the card is somewhat rough--some missing paper on the upper right corner and some staining and darkening of the paper. Still, a good example of this type of card from 1912 and after all, Indiana was (sad to say) the home of the KKK back then. Bid with confidence, I have a 100% rating on eBay.
