1963 Vintage Dog Grooming Pamphlet Oster Electric Clipper This booklet or pamphlet, called "Small Animal Grooming," was put out by Oster in 1963. The staple-bound booklet has paper covers and measures about 7-1/4" x 5-1/8". It sold for $2.00 when new. The booklet shows how to groom dogs using the company's electric clipper of the time, the "standard of the profession." Probably many general techniques would still apply (however, I'd recommend this as a collectible rather than a how-to). There are b&w photos and (2-color, I think?) illustrations showing various breeds and how to groom them with electric clippers. Breeds discussed are: Poodle (adult and puppy standard trims, plus variations such as English Saddle; Continental; and Dutch); Airedale, Wire Fox, Irish, Lakeland, Schnauzer and Welsh Terrier; Bedlington Terrier; Kerry Blue Terrier; Scottish Terrier; Sealyham; and Sporting Dogs such as English Setter, Gordon Setter, English Spring Spaniel, Irish Setter, English Cocker and American Cocker. An interesting and probably hard-to-find collectible for a fancier of any breed or of dogs in general.Condition: Covers have water damage (mostly back), which didn't stain any pages -- but may make the whole booklet just a bit curvy. Otherwise, just minor edgewear, creasing and light soil to covers (mostly back again). No odors that I can detect.As usual, my scan is flawed (part of the booklet is in shadow, but in reality there is now shadowed area on the booklet).See my other auctions for more great items!
