Description

Greetings What I have up for sale is a 1967 Super Bowl Souvenir program that was released in the state of Kansas and perhaps Missouri back in January of 1967. Although I cant find an exact date of this periodical's release, based on what I have read it would have been out in circulation sometime between January 7th of 1967 and prior to Super Bowl Sunday in which the Chiefs would eventually go on to lose that game. This is a historically important time for football in which a true champion would be crowned in a finale that featured the best team in the AFL and likewise in the NFL. If my memory serves me correct, the owner of the Chiefs lobbied for this new format which went on to become the most watch sports event each year around the world. Front of the magazine reads "Publication of the Chamber of Commerce of the Greater Kansas City" This local distribution and publication was most likely in short production and based on my research appears to be quite rare. Magazine looks to be in great shape with the binding still tight with just overall light wear on the cover with the rest of the magazine showing a very fresh look on the inside and back cover. This magazine features articles and advertisements talking about this great city- Kansas City Life- Cultural Attractions- Community- Parks- Churches and also the team itself. There are several pages and pictorials of the coach Hank Stram, E.J. Holub, Len Dawson, Curtis McClinton, Johnny Robinson, Ed Budde, Buck Buchanan, Otis Taylor, Jerry Mays, Jerry Corneilson, Reg Caralon and many more. It also talks about the season specific games and so forth. Because there are no articles on the Super Bowl game results this seems to tell me or indicates the game was yet to be played and a dated article written on January 6th, 1967 places this magazines release at a very specific time line. Be sure to checkout some of my other rare items up for sale right now on Ebay! Thanks For Looking! Ct. Drakeula
