These are the loveliest silhouettes I have come across. I am not sure that the background is the original, but it enhances the silhouettes and makes them special. The backgrounds of the silhouettes are dried flowers-and I am not sure what is in back of them-but the flowers are very lovely. In the large, oval, silhouette there are Japanese lanterns (Chinese Lanterns?) hanging at the top and the colors in the lanterns is very close to the colors of the flowers. Both silhouettes have wooden frames. The frames are tight, have a few minor scratches. The smaller silhouette is 5 ½ inches by 5 ½ inches. It features a man playing a mandolin? or a guitar and one supposes, serenading a lady sitting in a swing that is hanging from a tree. The second, oval silhouette, is 10 ½ inches tall, 8 and ½ inches wide and the couple are, I think, dancing. They are dress in a very old English or perhaps French style (Regency??). Sorry, my history lessons are much faded in my tired old brain. If you collect silhouettes, you will definitely want to add these two to your collection
