He served as President and CEO of Chrysler from 1978 and also was chairman from 1979, until his retirement at the end of 1992. Iacocca is one of the most widely recognized businessmen in the world.  He was a passionate advocate of U.S. business exports during the 1980s. He is the author or co-author of several books, including Iacocca: An Autobiography (with William Novak), and Where have all the Leaders Gone? Iacocca was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in Lehigh County.  He graduated from Allentown High School and Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, with a degree in industrial engineering. He is an alumnus of Theta Chi Fraternity. He then won the Wallace Memorial Fellowship and went to Princeton University. He then began a career at Ford Motor Company as an engineer, beginning in 1946. Iacocca was called to Dearborn, Michigan, where he become President of the Ford Division in 1964. Iacocca was involved with the design of several successful Ford automobiles, particularly the Ford Mustang. Also, he was responsible for the Lincoln Continental Mark III, the Ford Fiesta and the revival of the Mercury, including the introduction of the Mercury Cougar and Mercury Marquis. He also put the subcompact Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon into production. He was also responsible for Chrysler's acquisition of AMC in 1987, including the Jeep division. He appeared in a raft of commercials for Dodge and Plymouth vehicles In1982, Ronald Reagan appointed Iacocca to head the Statue of Liberty Ellis Island Foundation. In 1999 he became the head of EV Global Motors a company formed to develop and market electric bikes . He also created the Olivio Premium Products, which manufactures the Olivio line of food products made from olive oil. Iacocca led the funding campaign to expand Lehigh University into buildings formerly owned by Bethlehem Steel. Lee Iacocca Sent these Letters to Lt. Col. Jack Gross: These letters were sent by Iacooa to Lt. Col. Jack Gross, the chairman of the Air Force Association. This Lt. Col. Jack Gross was an officer with the 86th Fighter Group of the Army Air Force, during World War II. Jack B. Gross (born 1911 - died 2006) was born in Gratz, Pennsylvania, in Dauphin County. Jack Gross was a graduate of Lafayette College, in Easton, Pennsylvania. . During World War II, Jack Gross served with the 86th Fighter Group of the Army Air Force. He served in North Africa, Sicily, Naples, and in Germany. He later retired from the Air Force Reserve as a lietenant colonel. His military decorations included the Air Force Legion of Merit and the Exceptional Service Award, the highest Air Force award for a civilian. Jack Gross' business career was in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he was a self-employed investment executive. He was a national leader with the Air Force Association. He was treasurer of that association for 21 years and was chairman for 2 years. He also was one of the founders of this association's Aerospace Education Foundation. In 2004 the Aerospace Education Foundation named him a General H. “Hap” Arnold Fellow. There is much information about Jack Gross online. Provenance: I purchased these papers on at Jack Gross's estate auction, held in Carlisle, Pennsylvania at Rowe's Auction. Condition:  Very Nice Condition: The reverse side of each letter is blank.  Each letter has 2 horizontal folds, where they were folded to fit the mailing envelopes. Each letter is clean, with no foxing or stains.  Letter Numer 1 has minor creasing to the lower left corner's tip.  Letter Number 2 has a crease to the top right corner, and has a faint crease from a paper clip to the top margin, and has two very-short separations to one of the folds (approx. quarter-inch).  Letter Number 3 has a short, less than quarter-inch separation to one of the folds. ---- --Check / Money Order (Credit Card Also Payable to Me By Telephone or Email. ) Check or Money Order Also Accepted. $7.00 priority mailing in U.S. and Canada.
