English, though to date from the mid to late 19th century - C. 1880. A wrought steel plate upper chamber - fitted with riveted top cover - the cover incorporating a hinged hanging / carry loop. The burner assembly screw fits the base - with lockable hinged clasp between the two. A small wire linkage below the burner extinguishes the flame. The base is fitted with red glass lens or filter - protected by four wrought iron supports. The central brass mounting is stamped "410" - the fuel reservoir also stamped "410". The top face of the burner coupling is stamped "135". No makers name found. Height, excluding handle loop - 9 5/8" (245mm). Very good, period condition - cleaned and polished.
