1970, Vietnam War MAP DAC TO From Personal Collection One Only Available Measures, 22.5 x 26 inches ( 57 x 66 cms ) 1:100,000 DAC TO The US Special Forces, Base Camp at Dac To, under control of the 5th Special Forces opened, officially in December 1964. US Special Forces Operatives had rotated under command of the CIA into 'Dac To' since the late 1950's. Just kilometres from the Cambodian and Laotian border the area and camp was eventually to fall under the command of MACV-SOG, Command and Control Central out of Kontum in November of 1967. Originally designated, US Special Forces Detachment A-333, by August of 1965 the US Special Forces at dac To concentrated their efforts inthe build up of a Mobile Guerrilla Force (later, MIKE Force, Mobile Strike Force) with a strength of over 500 Montagnard Mercenaries the cqamp was to change it's designated to A-244. By the middle of 1966, under constant attack and after the Viet Cong overan the Special Forces base Camp at A-Shau in March the camp at 'Dac To' became a temporary assignment with the Mike Force Units operating throughout CTZ II and using the camp only temporarily and the camp was designated, A-332, Temporary Assignment and was manned by Tiger Force Rangers. In May of 1968, after the camp was over-run during the Tet Offensive and eventually re-captured the Camp was turned over to the South Vietnamese Tiger Force rangers on a permanent basis. The Rangers however evacuated the camp in mid-1969. Bottom Right of Map - Taped with English naming, not entering map area.
