This auction is for a model 1840 NCO sword by AMES. Dated 1863. Blade markings are Ames firm on one side, and on obverse stamped "U.S./ AH / 1863". Dark uncleaned blade with patches of mild pitting on ONE side only, not affecting the display of the piece. Very fine guard and handle, with inspection marks "A.H.C." on knuckle bow. Sword comes with a dark uncleaned scabbard, which is missing 4" of the lower half (see pic).
