This is the original hand-drawn (penciled and inked) art for the December 4, 1965 daily strip of Archie, by Bob Montana. The strip still has the 1965 King Features Syndicate copyright piece attached in the fourth panel (c. 1965, Archie Comic Publications, Inc. Distributed by King Features Syndicate). The full page is large, measuring approximately 19" by 7" (which I believe is about standard size for most newspaper strip orig art). This is a great piece of original artwork from one of the longest-running and most famous series in the history of comics and newspapers. It's a great example, with the humor that Archie strips are famous for, and includes Archie's best friend Jughead, who is helping Miss Beazly in what appears to be the school cafeteria kitchen, and also features the Principal, Mr. Weatherbee. It does have some condition issues that need to be noted, as you can see in the picture that there are a few dark marks. I am not sure what these are, as they don't necessarily seem to be stains. Overall the piece is still in fairly good shape, and the darkening does not affect most of the main art as it is towards the edges. The piece has been signed by Peg Montana (the wife of Archies creator Bob Montana) in the top right margin. As one of the foremost American strips, older Archie strip artwork is incredibly desirable, and highly sought after. Don't miss a rare chance at a great piece, that would look fantastic framed.
