Description

ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA physics meteorology 1896 by Cornu Shipping Info   Description Physical Phenomena of the Upper Regions of the Atmosphere, 1896 by Prof. Alfred Cornu      This complete original article is from an 1896 US museum report, which was likely published in the following year. It has 9 pages of text, (text pages are numbered 125-133), illustrated with 1 glossy plate of 3 illustrations.       Discusses the experiments and apparatus used by meteorologists and physicists to measure and study atmospheric phenomena, experiments which often yield better results than those performed on or in the actual atmospheric regions. Reports on the aerostat balloon, halos, alteration and inversion of temperature, use of photography, imitation of scintillation of the stars, luminous trajectories, multiple origin of the gyratory movement of the atmosphere, artificial reproduction of natural gyratory phenomena, and more. The images show the apparatus and experiments of M. Ch. Weyher.      Measures 6 by 9.25 inches; small pencil note to back cover; light corner bumping, light tanning to page edges, otherwise clean. Condition is Very Good.           (Weather, Physics, Meteorology, Astronomy, Science & Technology, Reference, Research, United States, Government Publications, Local and Regional History, Antiquarian Books, Paper and Ephemera).      (This is an extracted vintage article that was originally bound with many other scientific articles into one large U.S. government report. In this case, the original book was broken or wrecked at some point, so the remaining articles were removed and stapled into individual paper covers. The government reports contained many scientific articles, some original and some reprinted from other obscure sources. These articles are often overlooked by those who might find them of interest, because they rarely turn up in online title searches; and when it is located, the whole book and all the unrelated articles would have to be purchased as one.)      We have many other auction items (including many more of these excellent extracted reports) and a well-stocked eBay store - please Click Here to View Other Auctions.      PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Winning bidders will be automatically notified at the end of the auction.  I make an effort to communicate well with everyone;  I usually ship twice a week these days, and every item is guaranteed to be carefully and safely packed.       Shipping & handling for this item is $3.00 to anywhere in the U.S., though buyers in Alaska and Hawaii may want to request a faster option; insurance, delivery confirmation and other shipping extras must be requested by the winner.
