AUTHENTIC SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH OF GENERAL OMAR N. BRADLEY FROM 6/6/1969 I am offering in this auction a rare find. I have a autographed photo of General Omar N. Bradley measuring 9 7/8" x 8" and taken by the U.S. army photograher in Washington D.C. The photo is in mint condition. BRADLEY (1893-1981) was commander of the U.S. First Army, which landed at Utah and Omaha beaches, Normandy, on D-Day, June 6, 1944. In August 1944, he became the Commander of the 12th Army Group, the largest force ever commanded on the field. On September 20, 1950, Bradley was promoted to Five-Star General of the Army, and would be the last surviving general of 5-star rank. Lacking the arrogance and ostentation of some other generals, Bradley became known as "the soldier's general." This photo is signed to Mr. Wayne L. Sheirbon and says "with best wishes". Also included with photo is a 25th Anniversary letter in rememberance of Normandy. This letter was sent out to Americans by W.C. Westmoreland on 6/6/1969 the same date as the signed photograph. (It is not signed but stamped from his office). WESTMORELAND (1914-2005), a veteran of World War II, was Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (1960-1963) and Commander of the U.S. Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, and United States Army, Vietnam, at the peak of the Vietnam War (1964-1968). Westmoreland, who then served as Army Chief of Staff (1968-1972), supervised the Army's disengagement from Vietnam and the transition from the draft to an all-volunteer Army.
