Description

Up for auction is a fabulous and RARE embossed tin sign from Anheuser Busch, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri and it advertises BUDWEISER.  Notice how neither the sign nor the bottles mention the word “beer”?  That’s because this is a RARE Prohibition sign from the 1920s when advertising beer was against the law.  The labels on the two bottles state “DOES NOT CONTAIN ½ OF 1% OF ALCOHOL BY VOLUME”.  The sign is in a wooden frame with plywood backing and measures 13” by 28½”.  The sign has a three-dimensional look with certain areas being embossed or raised.  These areas include the words “ANHEUSER – BUSCH” and “BUDWEISER” in addition to the two bottles. The sign is in pretty good condition for its age but does have some wear, some rust near the left and right sides, shallow dents, and some missing tin (primarily in the upper lefthand corner).  The sign does have a series of manufactured holes along the perimeter of the sign for attachment to a wall with nails.  The colors and detail of this great embossed sign are awesome.  Overall I’d rate this sign a 7+ on a scale of 10.  Please refer to the pictures that I have provided and ask me any questions that you may have. Don’t let this opportunity to own a RARE 1920s tin sign from the days of Prohibition pass you by!!  I accept Money Orders, Cashier Checks, and personal checks (held ten days until cleared by bank).  No PayPal.  Payment must be received within 10 days.  Shipping is a flat rate of $12.50 for Priority Mail shipment to the continental US including Delivery Confirmation.  Insurance is optional but strongly recommended.  NO INTERNATIONAL SALES.
