Another classic linen cross-stitch sampler from the Ms. Blitz Private Collection! This was actually stitched by Ms. Blitz's Grandmother when she was a teenager, circa 1840's. This sampler measures 8 1/2"W x 11"H. The beautiful stitchery beginning from the top has the alphabet in upper case, then lower case, the name Margaret Akins (should be Adkins), Mar(?), then this quote, "Children In Years And Knowledge Young, Your Parents Hope, Your Parents Joy, Attend The Counsels Of My Tongue, Let Pious Thoughts Your Minds Employ," the bottom has a two story house with a basket of flowers and a basket of fruit. A simple wide zig zag border completes the work. It is in perfect condition throughout, with a small fray at upper left corner outside of stitched border. A great addition for the serious collector.
