Description

This is an Antique R 1-9 Front Destination Rollsign section, "QUEENS KEW GARDENS".  This sign reading has been placed in a walnut wood, glass frame, and is ready to be hung on your wall. This sign came from the R 1-9 cars of the IND  subway built in the 1930s, which were scrapped in the 1970s.  This was one of the 2 signs that went over the front door of the car.  When we say It's from an R-1/9 you can be sure that's what it's from! Kew Gardens is a neighborhood in central Queens bounded to the north and east by the Jackie Robinson Parkway (formerly Interborough Parkway), the Van Wyck Expressway, and Queens Boulevard, also to the east by 127th Street, to the south by 85th Avenue, and to the west by Babbage Street and Park Lane South. The section measures approximately 19" x 14" - in the frame it is slightly larger. Sign is made of black cloth. The frame is glass with walnut edges. This sign section is in great condition. There is barely any subway grime on it, and it is ready to go on your wall. Please see the photo. Great for bar or restaurant, dorm room, den, etc.  Makes a unique gift that you can't buy at Sears or Target (leave the wife a hint LOL).    Truly a museum quality antique.  Own a piece of NY history! Personal checks accepted OR money order accepted. Sorry, but we DO NOT accept paypal.  Item will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail from North Carolina, 27546.  Thanks and good luck!
