You are bidding on an antique IRT (Independent Rapid Transit) New York Subway R-21 car side sign #7080. The R-21s were originally delivered to the subway in 1956 at the cost of around $103,000 per car. They were built by the St. Louis Car Company, and a total of 250 were built. Sign 7080 measures 18.5" x 10". It is made of steel coated in enamel (porcelain??) with white numbers on greenish/black background. It's in great shape for it's age!
