WORKS! SOLD "AS IS" AND PRICED CHEAP TO SELL FAST. FREE SHIPPING TO THE CONTINENTAL USA. You are bidding on a working, US Army Signal Corps black bakelite Kellogg Model 925 "Ashtray" telephone instrument in excellent condition. It dates to March of 1945 and was manufactured during World War II for use in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. It calls out, answers, rings and dials out. The telephone base and handset are made of beautiful, delicate, black bakelite. This telephone has virtually no cracks or chips save one small nick at the very bottom of the phone which is barely noticeable except upon close inspection. It comes equipped with the harder-to-find "numbers-only" dial plate and Automatic Electric military fingerwheel and dial. This telephone comes with an original brown, Kellogg cloth covered handset cord and a new reproduction cloth covered line cord tipped with a modular plug. It can be plugged in and used today. The paper-stock used for the dial center card is original and celluloid window is new. The dial center card bears the famed Kellogg winged griffen! The dial also features the harder-to-find "numbers-only" dialplate. The bakelite on this telephone instrument is all original. It is remarkably well-preserved for a telephone instrument thats roughly 63 years old.   The Kellogg 925 is called an "Ashtray" because of the divots or depressions found on either side of the hookswitch. It is one of the most elegant, Art Deco telephones ever produced in the 1930's. This one is no exception. Its a beautiful grand dame! In this instance, this phone was manufactured to fill the void created by demand for communications equipment in the Pacific during the end of World War II. It has been "tropicalized" as the screws and connections on the network and hookswitch bear a faint blue clear-coat which was applied to them per spefications. Click Photograph to Enlarge The Kellogg 925 has a close cousin, the oval-based Model 700 which is also called an "Ashtray". All standard 925's are wired using the famed Kellogg "Triad" circuit found in all of the 900 series phones, including the 900 Pyramid and 999 wall phone as well as the 700 subset/ringer box. Click Photograph to Enlarge This Kellogg 925 "Ashtray" comes equipped with an original vintage brown, Kellogg cloth-covered cord running from the handset to the base, and a reproduction brown cloth covered line cord running frmo the base to the modular plug on the end. Click Photograph to Enlarge This beautiful telephone features the older, round-top handset with the deep cup receiver or earpiece. The receiver element inside is an original magnetic-style receiver with a wafer-thin diaphragm, unlike the later models that had a standard "carbon" style receiver element. Click Photograph to Enlarge Click Photograph to Enlarge The Kellogg 925 Ashtray is a very complex telephone inside. There are a lot of parts that fit in there. Its self-contained, with condenser, coils, and copper bells, all packed tightly into a single package. Only original Kellogg parts are in this telephone (other than the line cord). The dial is an Automatic Electric dial military dial with a military fingerwheel and dust shroud. The wiring is all original as far as I can tell. The ringer is original. It rings loud but its tone rings softly and so melodically!
