Aviator/Journalist FLOYD GIBBONS rare sig Guide $75 Click to Enlarge Description:You are bidding on an original 1930 autograph of famed Aviator & War Corespondent FLOYD GIBBONS. Gibbons (1887-1939) was a war correspondent and radio commentator. He earned fame from his reporting of World War I, including a first-hand account of the sinking of the merchant ship Laconia by a German U-Boat and a much-quoted account of U.S. Marines in combat at Belleau Wood. In that battle Gibbons was wounded several times and lost his eye. He also flew with Byrd over the North Pole. He wrote a biography of "the Red Baron" von Richthofen (1927) and a novel of future war The Red Napoleon (1936), both of which remain in print.
