Two boxes of lids made by Best Foods New York, N.Y. U.S.A. The large one is for quart jars and has 9 gold metal lids which have a lot of printing "HOME CANNING LIDS FOR BEST FOODS CRYSTAL JARS - DIRECTIONS ----etc. The small one is for pint jars and the 5 lids inside are the same except smaller size and printing. Large box is beat up, dirty, torn and stained and missing bottom flap, and top flap is loose. Small box is all there but has wear and smudges. Each has a picture of their mayonnaise jar. Best Foods was a big seller and I've seen the old jars occasionally with or without a label. They were meant to be used as canning jars after emptying. If you have one a lid from these boxes would be neat to add on top with a ring to secure it. I will list some other jar rings/lids and related boxes today. I think these date to the 1930's or so. Keep watching my auctions as I go through the old storage boxes. Shipping is $2.36 first class in the USA, more elsewhere.
