You are bidding on a large and beautiful Bruce Russell Copper Jug. The repousse hand hammered decoration is atypical of Bruce Russell’s artistic copperware having its derivation in his gold and silver ware from his Guernsey studio in the English Channel Islands. The item is hand etched BRUCE RUSSELL GUERNSEY 1970, on the bottom, see photo. The item has provenance from Simon Russell, brother of the artist, current proprietor of Bruce Russell, gold and silver smiths of Guernsey. Of this jug he says: ‘ Bruce’s gold and silver work sell for several thousands and some of his pieces have achieved over £80000 (GBP) if you found the right collector you may well get £300/£400 (GBP)’. The provenance is included in the sale. This item has an elegance of style, proportion, functionality and high craftsmanship. The jug is of very good colour and patina. It is 12 in (30.5cm) high, and the base is 7 in. (18cm) across the spout and handle.
