This is a beautiful blue and white quilt. The blue color is quite nice, not pastel of really bright, just a pleasant color of plain blue. I do not know the quilt's pattern name, but it is really nice and quite beautiful. This quilt was probably made in the 1940's or 1950's. My husband and I are in the process of downsizing, and this is one of the articles that must go. The quilt was made by a family member. It measures 71 1/2 inches X 81 inches. It is hand pieced and quilted with about 7 stitches to the inch. There are 21 solid blue squares, each measuring about 10" X 10". There are 21 blue and white squares, each measuring about 9 1/2" X 9 1/2". These square have been alternated, meaning every other one is solid blue. I hope that makes sense! The border is scalloped. At the border's widest part it is 5" and goes down to 4 3/4". The pieces in the border are triangles, alternating white and then blue. There is a small white border along the outside edges of the quilt that measures a little less than 1/2" in diameter. The border goes completely around the quilt and is rounded at the corners. The border is in EXCELLENT shape...no tears or thinning. Please see the pictures. The top side of the quilt is also in excellent shape, as is the back of the quilt. There is no discoloring anywhere on the quilt, front, back or edges. There are no tears or thin places in the quilt. The muslim batting seems fine, you cannot see thru the back to the front. The quilt has been used only slightly. It has been washed and is clean. No smoking or pet The hand quilting is quite beautiful on both sides. It is not straight quilting, but is done in a very nice pattern. Again, I don't know the pattern, but it is very intricate. I don't know how she was able to keep track of where she was. This is a beautiful quilt that has a lot of wear in it. It could be used as a throw, or a actual blanket, a wall hanging or something for your quilt collection. I wish I knew more about the quilt. If you have any questions, please ask and I'll try to answer as best as I can. I've taken quite a few pictures trying to show the nice quality of this quilt. The pictures were taken on a queen size bed so you can approximate the size. Again, this is a beautiful, hand pieced and hand quilted antique quilt made by a family member. IF you have any questions, please let me know. As I indicated, I know very little about quilts, except I do like them. We have so many, we must part with a few. I am 68 years old and had 3 grandmothers who quilted. This is probably one of the nicest ones as far as wear is concerned. Again, let me know if you have any questions.
