the-reef Store COLONY SPACE STATION Miniature Model Diorama (Model #01 in a Collection of 8)- Series 2 of the Royal Museum of Science (STARTALES)- Called the BLACK / NIGHT Frontier Collection- from Takara and Kaiyodo of Japan (2003) - Now Discontinued and Very Rare - Easy to Assemble- Clip-Together, Pre-Painted Model Diorama Kit- Imported from Japan- Brand New, Mint Condition, Sealed Packaging, with Photo Card, Information Poster and Boxed Summary and Details This is a prepainted and very highly detailed model diorama of a human COLONY SPACE STATION. The Colony Space Station is science fiction based on science fact. It is an attempt to show the reality of what a real habitable space station may look like in the future. I believe this type of space station is also featured in the Japanese Gundam cartoon series. This is one model from a set of 8 available from Volume 2, also known as the Black Frontier or Night Volume of the Royal Museum of Science - Startales collection (released in 2003 and deleted very quickly). These models were a joint project between the model producers KAIYODO (sculpted by Matsumoto Eiichirou) and were marketed and sold by TAKARA. Two volumes of ROYAL SCIENCE MUSEUM MODELS were issed in 2003 and 2004 (Night and Day or Black and White Frontiers respectively). These realistic Space models proved extremely popular and were quickly sold-out and deleted after their releases. The model is brand new and individually sealed in it's original plastic wrapper and boxed. The box has been carefully opened (from the bottom) in order to identify which model was inside. The models are sold randomly and "blind" packed, therefore the box must be opened to discover which model you have inside (please see info below for more details). The packaging includes a full colour collectable planetary backing card, and various facts and figures in the Japanese language. There is also included a fold-out A4 poster/information sheet with lots of details about the Colony Space Station (in Japanese), including photographs, factual cartoons, and full diagramatic Assembly Instructions for the model. This is a most impressive Space Exploration model with associated collectable ephemera. Informative Notes on the Origins of these Collectable Space ModelsThese models are a Japanese phenomenon know as "Shokugan", which translates as "Candy Toy", this is because you are guaranteed to get a random "surprise" model or figure and a packet of bubble-gum. The gum is not included in this auction, as I do not want to risk poisoning anyone as the sell by date may have expired (it's in Japanese)! These models are made from a dense plastic resin, and are very accurately sculpted and painted with an incredible amount of fine detail. Nothing can compare from "Western" manufacturers. COLONY SPACE STATIONDiorama Model Details The Colony "Island" Space Station diorama dimensions are approximately: (Millimetres) 62mm in diameter, and 50mm deep - the transparent display stand is 45mm in diameter and 30mm high.(Inches) 2.5" inches in diameter, and 2" inches deep - the transparent display stand is 1.75" inches in diameter and 1.25" inches high. The Colony Space Station diorama is beautifully pre-painted and requires minimal assembly, there are four pieces to clip-together - no glue is needed.
