Model 1855 Carbine sling hook and swivel. It is 9" long overall x 3" wide and 1/2" thick. This is the hook that was used at the bottom of the carbine sling for the mounted soldier to attach his carbine. This was mostly used by the calvary during the Mexican, Civil War and Indian War. It is made of iron. It shows use and has a smooth overall patina with no deep pittings. This was found stored in a farmhouse in mid-coast Maine along with a complete carbine sling that we recently sold. Authenticity is guaranteed as represented.
