A photo of the Crystal Beach Amusement Park Comet Rollercoaster taken from Lake Erie. The Comet was the signature Ride of the park. The initial 90 plus drop and 1.5 km of track made it a must ride at Crystal Beach. It was voted one of the top ten Rollercoasters by the American Coaster Enthusiasts Group. The Comet was designed by Allen and Herbert Schmeck. The Comet cost only $125,000.00. It used 60% of the 300 tons of structural steel from the famous Cyclone. The Cyclone was closed forever on September 2nd 1946, because it was considered to be to dangerous. The Crystal Beach Amusement Park closed for ever in 1989. Houses now occupy the land.
