Save on shipping with multiple item purchases.As the Lunar Module Pilot of the Apollo 14 mission, Edgar Mitchell was the 6th man to walk on the surface of the moon. Along with Commander Alan Shepard, America’s first man in space, he investigated the Fra Mauro Highlands on February 5-6, 1971. Command Module Pilot Stu Roosa remained in orbit. The item offer here is a nice photograph of Dr. Mitchell on the lunar surface posing with the American flag. Only a handful of photo laboratories are authorized by NASA to handle the original negatives and this photo was made by one of those labs. It is first generation-- made directly from the original NASA negative. This item is a large, 16" x 20" matte finish photo on high quality Kodak Professional paper. We worked with the laboratory to arrange a very careful crop of the original negative to center Dr. Mitchell and the American flag. The shadow of the lunar module is in the left foreground and the shadow of the communications antennae is in the right foreground. The shadow of Alan Shepard is in the center foreground. This item is signed in bold, copper paint and includes the words "Fra Mauro Base" and "Apollo 14 LMP", along with the signature. The words "Planet Promotions" were added to the scan to discourage copying, but they are not on the actual photo. The image above is of a representative copy of this item. This image was taken with a digital camera. The edges may appear uneven, but rest assured that the item is exactly rectangular and is 16†x 20†in dimension. This item is perfect for matting and framing. The item you will receive will be signed in approximately the same area and in the same manner and quality. You may e-mail if you wish to see a scan of the photograph you will actually receive. SPECIAL BONUS: The buyer will also receive a 4" x 6" photograph of Dr. Mitchell signing.
