Very little calcite as seen. My slabs are a bit smaller this batch, as I had "hand" select pieces sent for premium selection. smaller pieces were sent as to ensure top color and extremely low calcite. So if you see a slab(s) you like, jump at it as I'm only getting about 4 to 5 slabs per piece. I paid dearly for hand select but continue to start my lapis well below my cost. As everything, the cost of lapis in general has went up, at least top quality which I obtain. Top quality can be $300 a kilo delivered!! This Lapis is from the Badakhshan Province in Afghanistan. This is piece is perfect for the lapidary enthusiast, jeweler or collector. If you've been in the market for lapis, you know It is very difficult to obtain high quality rough lapis these days, Many lapis pieces I've seen have beautiful color, it's just that there is tiny pieces of calcite embedded within (flecks)to make it impossible to cut around. This greatly reduces the grade of lapis, and why the price is so reasonable. I've been dealing with Lapis for several years and always seek out the best possible on the market and a true Lapis enthusiast knows how much quality Lapis costs, especially in single hand select pieces. Now, I do not want to be just the lapis guy, I want to be your knowledgeable lapis guy with a great product at a fair price! I occasionally deal with other material, but lapis is my passion and specialty... Measures approximately 4.42" X 1.42" X .23" 4.43" X 2.38" to .46" X .26" TO .23" For a total weight of 130.33 grams or (4.59 ounces) Pictures taken wet (outside under SUNNY skies) to simulate polish...Watch out for pictures taken under flourescent lighting (except 6400k) the various spectums with falsify lapis' color. No picture enhancements of any kind, no shadowy shots. All bright and clear. What you see is what the lens picks up. Even the ugliness- Now, what makes me different then other lapis sellers/traders?
