GENUINE MING BEAD FROM NOTORIOUS CRIME FIGURE Click on the text links to view enlargements: 1-2 This is unique in our bead collection. It is a genuine Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) bead from the collection of convicted murderer Frank Lapa. Lapa was a Chicago coin dealer and counterfeiter who became involved in an elaborate scheme which ended in his brutal murder of his business partner. We will supply detailed information and certification of authenticity to the winning bidder. The bead itself is rare enough. It is translucent green glass a color rarely encountered as apple green was the royal color and non royals were not allowed to use it. Thus, it is very likely that this bead was made for the royal family or emperor himself. It came from a string of similar beads.. This one is 8.7 mm, over 1/3†in diameter. The treasures of the Chinese Royal family were stored in the Forbidden City in Peking and in the 19th century, much was stolen and sold by members of the court. That is almost surely the source for this group of beads. Condition is as shown. AF20 Due to problems we have had with shipping to the UK we are unable to accept bids or send items to any United Kingdom bidders.
