"RAKU-FIRED POTTERY SEATURTLE BOWL" HANDCRAFTED POTTERY SEATURTLE BOWL FORMED AND DETAILED OUT OF CLAY/FIRED/HANDPAINTED and then fired again in a special RAKU kiln to just under 2000 degrees. Once the pottery turtle bowl reaches the desired temp, it is removed from the RAKU kiln using tongs and special fire-proof gloves. The turtle bowl is then placed into a pit of shredded paper and leaves, suddenly BURSTING INTO FLAMES! Quickly the pit is covered to smother the flames, allowing the dense smoke to soak into the clay turtle bowl. Any areas that are not painted become the rich smokey black color that you see highlighting the colorful sea creatures. The underside of the turtle bowl is lightly detailed and signed with the artisan logo. Once fired and wiped clean, the bowl is finished with a special sealer to protect the surface. Note the pottery seaturtle bowl dimensions via the measuring tape included in the photos, each bowl being uniquely different and slightly different in length/width and depth. No two bowls are alike!
