UP FOR AUCTION IS AN OLD NOUVEAU STYLE BANK STAMP FROM HELLMAN COMMERCIAL TRUST & SAVINGS BANK, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA. IT IS 5" LONG, ALMOST 1" HIGH AND 5/8" THICK. IT IS MADE FROM A SLAB OF WOOD, LOOKS LIKE WALNUT WITH A CARVED COPPER PLATE NAILED TO THE TOP. IT IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. FROM MY RESEARCH, IT SEEMS THE BANK CHANGED TO THIS NAME IN 1913. THE PRESIDENT WAS MARCO H HELLMAN AND THE VICE PRESIDENT WAS IRVING H HELLMAN. IRVING IS LISTED AS BEING BORN WHERE THE HERMAN W HELLMAN BUILDING STANDS. IT SEEMS THE BUILDING IS STILL THE "HELLMAN BUILDING" AND STILL STANDS AT 354 S SPRING ST IN LOS ANGELES. IT WAS BUILT IN 1902. MARCO IS LISTED AS A JEWISH PIONEER IN THE SOUTHWEST. BOTH HELLMANS ARE LISTED AS SCOTTISH RITE MASONS AND SHRINERS. Thank you and Good Luck! I am always happy to combine items for shipment, when possible, to help keep shipping costs down.
