Very rare collector's item, Original from about 1900 ! " Greetings from the army physical " " Gruss von der Musterung " with Jewish recruit " Der kleine Cohn " The small Cohn is a Stereotype „ the Jews “ in the German empire under Wilhelm II. Cohn was a widespread surname among the European Jews, it stood as a synonym for all prejudices against the Jewish population of the beginning 20-th century. The time of origin cliché is not protected. There is a music-hall song performed for the first time in the Berlin Thalia theatre in 1902 „ have you not seen the small Cohn? “, it was the hit of the year. However, not clearly is whether this hit the cause or rather the reaction to the spreading postcard motives were till the time of the First World War which caricature the figure of "small Cohn" and unite, besides, many anti-Jewish stereotypes. On these postcards the small Cohn is shown as crooked-legged, more pathetic, of slight build, hooknosed candidate for the military who cannot keep up physically with the property-grown German recruits at all and is taken out of service, therefore, under travesty laughter. He is not suited for military and already not at all suitably for the defence of the German empire.
