Quality in construction begins with the blade. The blade of this sword is a hand-forged, machine sharpened, extreme duty carbon steel, full tang dual-pinned katana blade. Able to be fully disassembled, the blade is held securely by the two traditional bamboo pins driven through the hard wood handle. The hard wood handle is covered in imitation ray skin, hand wrapped in durable cotton cord, and capped with cast antiqued metal sea-dragon end-caps. The beautifully antiqued finish is carried over through the intricately cast tsuba (guard), habiki (blade cap), and collars. The tsuba is an intricate bas relief tidal wave communicating the strength and power of the sea at its most destructive stance. The lacquered wooden scabbard shines in contrasting metallic gold flake over gloss black. Displayed on the included stand, this sword speaks elegance and power.
