Signs include pin-size holes or wounds in the head region, which may secrete stringy mucous. Wounds may also form at the base of the fins and near the lateral line. In addition, loss of appetite are not uncommon. Factors, such as overcrowding, poor water conditions, improper diet and fluctuating water temperatures may cause these parasites to multiply.
