How are your prints made? We generate a print using high-end giclee (giclée) printing. We use high-grade archival inks (rated for 100+ years), papers, and canvases — ensuring that the print will look exactly the same for generations to come. We size all of our prints to conveniently fit standard frame sizes to save you money. Your shipping seems a bit high, how come? Actually, it's right in line with our competitors. Remember our default-sized item is too big to fit in an envelope. In addition, the charge is for shipping and handling. And finally, we put a lot more into it. You're buying a quality museum-grade print, so we want to ensure that it gets to you in pristine shape. For most of our prints, in addition to actual shipping, that includes a high-quality shipping tube, a poly bag (which requires a sealing machine), and glassine interleaving paper to protect the face of the print. We also usually include some shipping inserts. What exactly does "professional restoration" mean? We provide a dedicated page just for this question. Check it out — you'll be amazed at the difference. Does the Statue of Liberty image come with the print? Only if you pay extra :) Seriously, no, it's simply to discourage online copying. Are your images unique? Yes and no. Many of the original pieces certainly are not. You can find them in antique stores and in various archives. You can even find prints of many for sale elsewhere on eBay. What does make ours unique is the quality of the images — most are restored to like-new condition. Some of the originals our poster prints are based on are in horrible shape. This makes them worthless to our scan-and-sell competitors, at least to the ones with scruples. It also makes many of our prints far more rare, especially considering we don't allow any to be mass produced. Why do your prints sometimes cost slightly more than some seemingly similar prints on eBay? In short, you get what you pay for. First, we offer a bigger size by default. In addition, as far as we know, we are the only merchant on eBay that provides all professionally restored reproductions. Our nearest competition falls into two groups: those that provide reproductions as is and those selling original works as collectibles. Neither of these groups has any interest in bringing a photo or poster back to its original glory as the artist or photographer envisioned. And that's what we're all about. In addition, most of the cheap posters you see on eBay and elsewhere are printed on offset presses in large print runs, which dramatically reduces the per-poster price. We reproduce small quantities of much rarer posters. Most of our customers appreciate the value of displaying a unique poster that you can't find at the local discount art store. Don't weathered or damaged prints look more realistic? That depends. Realistic to what they look like now or realistic to what they looked like in their heyday? We're all about bringing the photo or poster back to life for our customers to enjoy — as art. We are not about creating exact copies of collectibles as they are now — we are about returning works to as they were then. The originals in their modern condition (and their unrestored prints) are often too shabby looking for discriminating people to display in their homes or businesses.
