LAURENCE HUTTON author editor autograph letter signed.  Autograph letter signed, written entirely in Hutton’s hand, on printed letterhead of Harper & Brothers’ Editorial Rooms, dated January[?] 12th, 1898, reading: “My Dear Sir Let me thank you for the touching anecdotes you tell me concerning Florence; and for the added courtesy of your personal note.  You know, of course, that she married within a year of his death!  Very Sincly[?] Yours Laurence Hutton”.  Sheets measure approximately 5 1/2” x 8 1/4”.  Uniformly toned; some chipping and edgewear; else good.  Authenticity guaranteed.  Seller is a member of PADA (Professional Autograph Dealers Association), ABAA, and ILAB.  Residents of New York State will be charged applicable sales tax.  Laurence Hutton (1843-1904) was an American essayist and critic. From 1886 to 1898 he was the literary editor of “Harper's Magazine”. He was one of the organizers of the Authors' Club and of the International Copyright League.  In 1892 he received the degree of A.M. from Yale and in 1897 from Princeton.
