METEORITES history rocks geology mineralogy 1900 Tassin Shipping Info Description Descriptive Catalog of the Meteorite Collection in the US National Museum to Jan 1, 1902 by Wirt Tassin     This is a vintage article that was originally bound with many other scientific articles into one large U.S. government report. In this case, the original book was broken or wrecked at some point, so the remaining articles were removed and stapled into individual paper covers. The government reports contain many articles, some original and some reprinted from other obscure sources. Articles like this are often overlooked by those who might find them of interest, because they rarely turn up in online title searches; and when it is located, the whole book and all the unrelated articles must be purchased as one.     This complete original article is from an 1900 report of the US National Museum, likely published in 1902. It has 28 pages of text, (pages numbered 671-698), plus 4 plates of b&w photographs. First edition/appearance in print.     A fantastic catalog of the hundreds of meteorites in the collection, each described, listed alphabetically by the city, town or area where it was found (they are from all over the world), illustrated with a photo of the display of the collection, and 3 specific meteorites - Allegan Meteorite, Casa Grandes Meteoric Iron and the Felix Meteorite     (Geology, Rocks, Fossils, Minerals, Metals, Iron, Catalog, 19th Century, Sciences & Technology, Reference, Research, United States, Government Publications, Local and Regional History, Antiquarian Books, Paper and Ephemera).     Measures 6 by 9.25 inches; small pencil note to back cover; a few minimal wrinkles and light bumping to a few corners, otherwise clean. Condition is Very Good+.     We have many other auction items (including many more of these excellent reports) and a well-stocked eBay store - please Click Here to View Other Auctions.     PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Winning bidders will be automatically notified at the end of the auction. I make an effort to communicate well with everyone; I usually ship twice a week these days, and every item is guaranteed to be carefully and safely packed.     Shipping & handling for this item is $3.00 to anywhere in the U.S., though buyers in Alaska and Hawaii may want to request a faster option; insurance, delivery confirmation and other shipping extras must be requested by the winner.
