Description

#4857 Dressed Cats (House Cleaning)   This original 1940’s postcard was published by Alfred Mainzer, Inc. 39-33 29th Street, Long Island City 1, New York and printed in Belgium.   The dressed cats, created by artist, Eugen Hartung (1897-1973), are part of a large collection of animal postcards he designed.   His signature logo was a little heart with a loop or “tongue” in the center and two tiny dots, which look like eyes.  That signature appears in the bottom right corner on the front of this postcard.  The early postcards had a rough finish, brilliant colors, and scalloped ("deckled") edges.   This postcard # 4857, printed in Belgium, depicts the children helping mama clean the house.   They seem to be getting into more mischief than helping.  It was created in the 1940’s; the cats are dressed in the styles of that period.    (It is in near mint) some very slight yellowing and very light color rubbing on the left edge and lower left corner of the back.  The postcard has been photographed, not scanned.  Each computer monitor shows color and texture differently.  I have tried my best to show this postcard as it is.  Winning bidder will be pleased with the condition of this postcard.   Please email me with any questions.  Winning bidder will be sent an e-mail with complete payment information.  PAYMENT METHODS: Paypal is my method of choice, but Check, or Money Order will be accepted.  World Wide bidders welcome, but please use Paypal ONLY.  TEXAS RESIDENTS must pay 8.25% sales tax.  Payment MUST be received 10 days or less after auction closes.   SHIPPING: I ship Monday through Friday only.  Payments by Money Order or Paypal will be shipped on the next day after payment is received (you will be notified).   Payment by personal check will be shipped 10 business days or up to 14 days total, after your check has been deposited (you will be notified).  Winning bidder pays shipping and insurance.   INSURANCE: If the winning bidder fails to insure his/her auction item, it means you assume all responsibility for this item arriving safely.  I assume no responsibility for uninsured items once they leave my possession.  Items must be insured for the amount winning bidder pays only.  If winning bidder sends the minimum insurance amount, the item will be insured for that amount.  Please use the USPS insurance calculator.  Delivery Confirmation (tracking) is available at an additional fee.
