N163 Goodwin tobacco card Dogs of the World Water Dog Ex This series of tobacco or cigarette cards was released by Goodwin in 1890. The world tobacco index reference number is G58-3, Burdick N163. It is from the series of Dogs of the World. This series has pictures on each card of breed of dog on a white background. Excellent artwork by Giles. This example shows a Water Dog; the dog is named on the front of the card and the back. Today called Portuguese Water Dog. Condition: I would grade this card a very solid Ex; the card has very light corner wear, no creases or paper loss. Colours are sharp and clear, card is very clean. Back is clean and intact (never been stuck down). Please see scans. A superb example of this very early tobacco set, for any collector of cigarette cards, canine memorabilia, dog related items or ephemera.
