NEW YORK CITY BALLET - SASKIA BESKOW - AUTOGRAPHED POINTE SHOES PLUS 2 NYCB PLAYBILLS FROM 2 OF HER PERFORMANCES. UP FOR AUCTION ARE A PAIR OF POINTE SHOES THAT WERE USED AND SIGNED BY SASKIA BESKOW OF THE NEW YORK CITY BALLET (NYCB). BOTH POINTE SHOES ARE SIGNED. The brand is Freed of London, size 4 ½ XX and the shoemaker’s symbol is T. I am the original owner and can vouch for their authenticity. I bought her toe shoes directly from the New York City Ballet where she danced in these shoes. ALSO INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION ARE 2 NYCB PLAYBILLS FROM 2 OF HER PERFORMANCES. THE FIRST PLAYBILL IS FROM 2007 WHEN SASKIA DANCED IN “SYMPHONY IN THREE MOVEMENTS†AND CAROUSEL (A DANCE). THE SECOND PLAYBILL IS FROM 2006 WHEN SHE DANCED IN THE CORPS IN â€DONIZETTI VARIATIONS†(SASKIA IS ON THE COVER OF THIS PLAYBILL – SHE IS THE FIRST BALLERINA ON THE LEFT). COMES FROM A SMOKE FREE HOME FOR THE LAST 20 + YEARS, I HAVE BEEN A REGULAR PATRON OF AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE AND NEW YORK CITY BALLET. DURING THAT TIME, I HAVE PURCHASED A LARGE NUMBER OF AUTOGRAPHED TOE SHOES (POINTE SHOES AND BALLET SLIPPERS) FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE BOUTIQUES AND GUILD EVENTS. Saskia Beskow was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. She began her ballet training at the age of six with a private ballet school. After two years, she began studying with the school of the Royal Danish Ballet. She eventually became a member of the corps de ballet at the Royal Danish Ballet where she danced much of the Bournonville repertory. In 1997, Ms. Beskow was invited to join New York City Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet. Since joining New York City Ballet, Ms. Beskow has danced featured roles in: George Balanchine's The Nutcrackerâ„¢ (Hostess, Hot Chocolate, and Flowers), Peter Martins': The Sleeping Beauty (Queen and Tenderness) and Swan Lake (Princesses and Spanish); and Jerome Robbins: Fanfare (Celli) Ms. Beskow originated corps roles in Melissa Barak's Telemann Overture Suite in E Minor, Mauro Bigonzetti's In Vento, Peter Martins' Chichester Psalms, Susan Stroman's Double Feature, Christopher Wheeldon's: Carnival of the Animals, Mercurial Manoeuvres and Variations Sérieuses.
