mitt / glove buckskin full view hand sewn edging dark leather addition and fringe looking inside the liner hand stitched edge hand stitched fur to leather handstitched leather to buckskin For your consideration, a very nice pair of antique / vintage Northwest Coast native Indian gloves (mittens) or gauntlets. This is a very old pair which over the years have been adjusted and stored. I will describe them to the very best of my ability. The mitten / glove part (only) is buckskin and has hardened some over the years. I am told that bear grease would soften them back up very well. They have been authentically used / worn and have over the years been added to and lined with what appears to be pieces of a Hudson Bay wool blanket. They have had an additional piece of thin supple dark chocolate brown leather with fringe and rabbit fur added over top of the wool and attached to the buckskin. (They have been stored and smell a little like an antique steamer trunk does after a few years, I am sure that they will air out more as they already have.) They measure about 17 inches long from mitten / glove tip to the end of the wool liner by about 9 inches across the top of the liner when laid flat. The liner can actually be removed.These will fit a larger hand. An asset to a Northwest Coast Native art collection.Thanks for looking at my listings.
