This is a fine looking NAVAJO DOUBLE SADDLE BLANKET with 10 Valero stars (6 orange/black and 4 red/black), as well as the traditional bands of color and central Diagonal Bands (a style element from the Transitional Era). The size of this rug is approximately 62" X 28", with a warp of 6 and a weft of about 24, a very well woven piece, with 100% wool warp and weft. The colors of grey (note the many shades), white, beige, and very dark brown, are all hand spun and hand carded natural sheep's wool colors. The red and orange are hand spun wool, hand dyed with aniline dye which the Navajo used often and obtained from the Trading Posts. NO holes, NO Moth nibbles/grazing, NO Fading, and NO Bleeding (crisp and clean color lines), NO fraying. A little wear to corners and a few very minor/very light/very small stains. SELVAGE: Side Selvage cords are 100% intact/present, a twist of two, 2-ply black wool yarns. The End Selvage Cords are 100% intact, and is a braid of three, 1-ply black wool yarns. The 2/4 corner ties are present with some wear from time/use, the actual corners are in good shape (see pic.). This rug has many LAZY LINES. No odors, clean and ready to display. Both sides photographed in entirety - the first few (2) photos in each column are the 2 sides of the rug respectively. The variation in the grey you can see are not repairs or damage, these are a combination natural variations due to hand carding of wool, and wool lot changes.
