Wonderful and quite rare, 1915 typed letter signed by Calvin Coolidge on Campaign Stationary with a portrait of young Calvin in the upper right hand corner. This fantastic, hand signed letter measures approx. 8 1/2†x 11†and is typed on Campaign Stationary during Coolidge's first run for Statewide Office as Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts. At the top of the sheet is text that reads "Foe Lieutenant-Governor / Calvin Coolidge / of Northampton.". At the upper left hand corner is a list of the members the "Executive Committee" of Coolidge's Campaign Organization and at the upper right hand corner is a wonderful portrait of a very young Calvin Coolidge with text below the portrait that reads "President of the Senate (at this time Coolidge was the President of the Massachusetts State Senate - an office to which he had been elected in 1914). The Letter is dated September 28th, 1915 and addressed to A. M. Tibbetts thanking him for his letter, his interest in the Campaign and his support. Coolidge continues "I trust you will let me know any time I can be of service to you. / Cordially yours, (signed) Calvin Coolidge". The letter is boldly signed in black ink “Calvin Coolidgeâ€. We have never seen this Coolidge Campaign Stationary before or any Coolidge Stationary with a portrait of the soon to be President of the United States. The 1915 campaign for Lieutenant Governor was Coolidge's first foray into Statewide politics. He won this race by approx. 50,000 votes and began a rapid ascent to the Governor’s Office in 1919, to the Vice Presidency in 1921 and to the Office of President of the United States upon the death of President Warren G. Harding in 1923. This fantastic TLS is in very good condition - clean but with some uniform age toning and with light folds (as sent in an envelope). There are also a couple of short separations at the fold edges. The signature is large and bold. A rare and much sought after, early President Calvin Coolidge signature and a fantastic addition to any collection!!
