This auction is for a U.S. model 1860 cavalry saber by Ames. This undated sword has the very rare arch style address. overall the sword is very fine, rarely seen in this condition anymore. Blade is excellent, no nicks, or rust, only some age spotting. The original cross brushing at ricasso is still present clear Ames address in arch is also present. Leather grip is guaranteed to be original wrap. The brass wire (single thread )is not the typical wire seen on most Ames swords but also appears original to the sword. Scabbard pad present. Overall scabbard is in fine condition. Dimensions are correct with 34.80" blade. A rare model 1860, seldom seen on the market and fresh from an estate collection.
