VINTAGE ITEM, NOT NEW The Officer Friendly program began in 1960 by the Sears-Roebuck Foundation. The objective of the visits are to teach children safety skills and to interact with children in a positive setting. In the classrooms, children learn that Officers are people too and they get the chance to spend individual time with them. They learn that police officers are indeed their friend and they can seek assistance without fear from a uniformed police officer. Tyvek (TIE-veck) is a brand of flashspun high-density polyethylene fibers, a synthetic material; registered to DuPont. It's very strong; difficult to tear but can easily be cut, and water resistant. It's used for envelopes (like the rip-proof Priority bags at the psot office), car covers, housewrap, medical packaging, and graphics applications. Tyvek is sometimes erroneously referred to as "Tyvex."
