Beautiful old box, about 9 X 6 X 3 inches, completely covered in sea shells. I think this was probably a sewing box, although it was being used for jewelry when I found it. It is in very good condition for its age and fragile materials - I don't see any missing shells but there are hundreds and I might have overlooked one. A few of the smallest shells around the lid have chipped or decayed a bit, but they don't really show. The hinge at the back is old fabric that is rotting and is torn most of the way across, but again the box looks great when it is closed. Bottom looks like some sort of brown fiber board and it has a stain in one corner. An amazing old box !Buyer to pay postage plus insurance, if desired.
