This auction is for an ORIGINAL TELEPHONE No.162 (MARK 234). This model was first released in 1929 by Siemens, ENGLAND. And was reproduced here in Australia by AWA. This is the ORIGINAL table telephone. This is NOT an imitation. The phone measures approximately 6" high and 9" wide. The base measures 7" x 5 1/4". It is still in working condition with all the wiring and componentry in tact and the rotary dial moving freely. It has an old style of phone plug with a "+" design 4 prong plug. So to use it in a modern day home, this would need to be converted, or an adaptor made up. It does have a couple of small chips near the base (see photo #2), the mounts are deteriorating slightly, a small amount of the wiring cover has frayed slightly at one end, and there is a small amount of surface corrosion on the two tabs on the undercarriage of the phone. Overall this phone is in VERY GOOD condition, given its age. It would make an absolutely fabulous show piece. This phone belonged to my great grandfather, and I am sure he would like it to go to someone who would appreciate it. Thank you for checking out my auction and good luck! A percentage of this sale will go to charity.
