As of the date of this listing, this issue is 70 years old. The headline event was the dedication of the Eternal Light Peace Memorial on July 3rd, 1938. There are several pictures covering the event, as well as pictures of the "Veteran's Day" parade held on July 1, 1938. This paper also provides some coverage of the reunion of the "Blue and Gray" - this was the last great reunion, as most veterans were now deceased. None would survive for the 100th. The paper is in fairly good condition for its age - all 8 pages are intact. The paper is old, but is in good shape, so the newspaper can be read if one is careful. There's appears to be a stain on the upper right corner, and where the center fold meets is a bit worn, leaving a small hole. These don't affect the readability of the paper overmuch. There's just so much human interest as well as historical documentation in this paper. It's a fantastic window on the past. The topics inside includes sports, local ads and a full page of Associated Press Picture News. This would be a great addition to the collector of Gettysburg memorabilia and history.
